Roosevelt Pond (a market) (a mine)
1988
Providence, Rhode Island

This piece consisted of twelve upright and flat-floating words. The two identifiable zones of the pond were metaphorically designated "market" and "mine" based on an imagined relationship of raw material and finished product as suggested by the flow of water. Viewers were able to imagine relationships between words and metaphorical zones as well as group words by common elements like color and typeface. Roosevelt Pond (a market) (a mine) was commissioned by the City of Providence, Rhode Island for the Convergence I festival in 1988.
